Helicopter Training

On Sunday 22 Jan 2012 R116 made a prearranged visit to Drogheda to conduct training.  The Rescue Helicopter landed in the GAA playing field adjacent to the Drogheda Fire and Rescue Service.  This exercise was to familiarise the new members of the unit with the helicopter.  The new members had to prepare the landing site and have orange smoke ready to deploy if requested by the helicopter crew.  Once the helicopter landed the new volunteers had a tour both inside and outside of the helicopter.  In addition the Drogheda HSE Ambulance and the Drogheda Fire and Rescue Service were in attendance.  Members of the public also got the chance to have a look inside and take some photographs.

The Drogheda Coast unit would like to thank the crew of R116 that day for their time and patience on that very busy but cold morning.
